About
Mortensrud Frikirke is an evangelical Lutheran congregation situated atop Senter Syd in Mortensrud, Oslo. Established in 1990, our unique location within the shopping centre, Senter Syd reflects our commitment to being present where people live their everyday lives.
Our diverse community comprises individuals of various ages and backgrounds, united by a shared faith in Jesus Christ. We strive to integrate our beliefs into daily life and foster genuine fellowship. Regular Sunday services at 11:00 AM form the core of our communal worship, complemented by weekly activities such as family groups, men's gatherings, and an international women's group.
We offer free Norwegian language courses through Ethnos Language and Integration School, covering levels A1 to B1, along with a weekly language café. Our annual Alpha course provides an opportunity for those curious about Christianity to explore faith in a welcoming environment.
Beyond our local engagement, we actively participate in global missions, supporting outreach efforts in regions such as Japan and the Middle East.
Our facilities, located on the top floor of Senter Syd, are available for rent and are suitable for various events, including weddings, conferences, and community gatherings.

Welcome to Worship Service on Sundays at 11:00 AM
There is a worship service at Mortensrud Free Church every Sunday, except for the Sundays in July. At the Free Church, our worship services usually include activities for both children and adults. The services begin at 11:00 AM on Sundays in the church space located on the 4th floor of Senter Syd. The entrance to the church facilities is at the back of the center, marked “Oslo Søndre Frikirke.”
The style of worship services in the Free Church varies somewhat, as different worship service groups—made up of volunteers from the congregation—set the framework for each service. However, we always aim to offer a program for children during the service. Here they will hear Bible stories, sing songs, pray, and engage in fun, interactive activities together.
Since the Free Church is primarily run by and made up of people who see it as their community, our worship services are also created that way. Hosting services is both a privilege and a responsibility, but when we carry it together, it becomes something truly special. We organize this through various worship service groups, each taking responsibility for one service per month, as well as meeting once a month outside of church for fellowship in a home. We would love to invite as many as possible to be part of this, because we believe it brings great value both to individuals and to the community as a whole.
If you would like to contribute—whether technically, musically, artistically, practically, socially, or in any other way—you are more than welcome to do so. Please contact Karl-Johan Kjøde at karljohan(@)outlook.com regarding both worship service groups and any other questions you may have about the services.
Many, but not all Sunday Services are translated into English. However, you will meet many friendly faces who will be more than willing to communicate with you in English, or perhaps even other languages.
